内容简介
Golf is one of the few sports where-the average player can walk in the footsteps of the great and encounter the same challenges - that do-or-die shot over water, that curling putt to become
Open champion. Get two golfers together and they will invariably start trading stories about which courses they have played and which are on their wishlist. This book is for them, written by one of their own- an average player who has collected over 1,000 courses.
It is no easy matter selecting 101 Golf Courses for inclusion in a book: for every course featured there are a further ten that could legitimately take its place. So this selection is a personal one. The author has sought to represent golf in each continent where golf is played, with a balance between new and old. public and private. world-famous and less well-known courses.
Each course is described in detail and illustrated with a course map and colour photographs by some of the world's finest golf photographers. That so many of these courses are in places of
great natural beauty is an added bonus. In his 45 years of playing golf, the author has seen enormous changes to the structure and business of golf, and, in particular, to the industry of golf tourism. He has, therefore, taken the opportunity to include resort courses representing some of the most significant of these developments in Spain and Portugal, the Caribbean, South America, South Africa, Thailand and - most recently - China.
