内容简介
Today in condensed-matter physics and materials science,a great deal of interest is focused on low-dimensional materials, and many researchers are creating more com-plex nanometer-scaled structures and complsites which have unique physical prop-erties.These low-dimensional nanostructures are intermediate between buld crystals and small molecules. Thus this area is interdisciplinary between physics and chem-istry.A new material has its own peculiar feature.A challenge of modern materials science is to obtain a guiding principle for the design of new low-dimensional mate-rials with aimed characteristics that are expected neither in bulks nor in molecules.Actually well-controlled physical phenomena and special functions have been eagerly looked for.As a result,a variety of nanostructurctured materials has been tailored and appeared.Sihnce only one volume cannot cover all these interesting materials,a sepuel is necessary to introduce the other characteristic ones.As well as the volume 1,this book reviews recent experimental and theoretocal studies on electronic and optical propertica of ceveral low-dimensional tailor-made materials at an advanced researchlevel.
