John WONG Professor John Wong is Research Director of the East Asian Institute at the National University of Singapore.He was fromerly Diector of the Instiute of East Asian Political Economy(1990-1996).His publication include Land Reform in the People's Repubilc of China(1973),ASEAN Economies in Perspective(1978)and Understanding China's Socialist Market Economy(1994),as well as numerous papers on the economic development of Chian,ASEAN and Asian NIEs,Recent books wich he edited(with WANG Gungwu)include China's Political Economy(1998),Hong Kong is Chian:Challenges of Transition(1999)and China:Two Decads of Reform and Change(1999).
